For Immediate Release: November 30, 2021 -- Today, the City Council adopted Councilmember Raman’s resolution (Council File 21-0002-S170) to remove the greatest obstacle to street food vendors securing permits to legally vend in the City of Los Angeles, the food safety regulations set by the California Retail Food Code (CRFC). Councilmember Raman’s resolution calls on the California State legislature to amend the CRFC to be more inclusive and take into consideration the realities of sidewalk vending.

For Immediate Release: November 23, 2021 -- Today, the Los Angeles City Council voted to adopt Councilmember Nithya Raman’s motion (Council File 21-1080) to create a permanent Office of Procurement for the City of Los Angeles, to bring greater transparency, strategy, and accountability to the City’s contracting with goods and service providers. Los Angeles is currently one of the only major cities in the country with a decentralized procurement system.

For Immediate Release: October 12, 2021 -- Today, Councilmember Nithya Raman introduced a resolution in support of AB 1256 (Quirk), which would prohibit California employers from discriminating against hiring—or from terminating—a person who has tested positive for having non-psychoactive cannabis metabolites in their urine, hair, or bodily fluids, which do not correlate with on-the-job impairment. If the resolution is adopted, the City of Los Angeles would include its support for AB 1256 in the official 2021-22 State Legislative Program.
